NARRAVATE LEADERSHIP

Narravate (NAR-uh-vayt): real decisions, experienced live

Case-based behavioural training for managers: one behaviour at a time

Managers may know what to do and still repeat an old habit under pressure. In a live 60 to 90 minute session, they work through one visual case. They discuss their choices and leave with one action to try at work.

narravate leadership

Leadership is many decisions. Practise one at a time.

Watch how a Narravate Leadership case opens

Each clip runs 30 to 35 seconds and stops before the outcome. In a live session, the facilitator pauses at that point and the room decides what should happen next.

  • 30 to 35 seconds
  • Stops at the decision
  • Outcome revealed live

Sample: Speaking up: the red chart at Ford, 2006

A new CEO brings his leaders together every week. Every status chart shows green. One leader's chart is red.

Sample: Ownership: the error found at midnight

A project lead finds a mistake in a client deck hours before it is due. Nobody else has noticed.

The gap between knowing and doing

Knowing

The model was clear in the classroom. Your managers attended training on exactly this.

Doing

A manager postpones the feedback conversation again. Another takes back delegated work the night before a deadline.

Narravate Leadership works in that gap. Managers rehearse the decision itself, one behaviour at a time.

What is Narravate Leadership?

Narravate Leadership is a facilitated visual case session built around one leadership behaviour. Each case uses a documented event with sources or an anonymised workplace situation. Managers see the situation through the eyes of the people who were there and decide before they know the outcome.

Real-world cases

Documented turning points, built from recorded events and figures. Examples include the Thailand Cave Rescue and the founding of Amul.

Workplace scenarios

Built from a real situation in your organisation, with names and details changed. Ready in two working weeks.

Choose the behaviour your managers need to change

Choose from six themes. Each session focuses on one behaviour within a theme. Each session takes one behaviour from one theme.

01

Trust and safety

Teams go quiet when speaking up feels risky. The capsule looks at how one response from a manager decides what people say next time.

BEHAVIOURS IN THIS THEME

EXAMPLE REAL-WORLD CASES

Thailand Cave Rescue: strangers trusting each other’s expertise under pressure

Ford, 2006: one red status chart in a room where every other chart showed green

02

Collaboration

Each team meets its own targets while the shared problem stays unsolved. The capsule examines one moment where working together costs something.

BEHAVIOURS IN THIS THEME

EXAMPLE REAL-WORLD CASES

Mangalyaan, 2014: an ISRO team, with women scientists in key roles, reaching Mars on the first attempt

Shackleton’s Endurance: a crew that survived when the plan itself failed

03

Ownership

Commitments slip between people and across handovers. The capsule asks who owns the outcome when nobody is checking.

BEHAVIOURS IN THIS THEME

EXAMPLE REAL-WORLD CASES

Verghese Kurien and Amul: a reluctant engineer who stays to build something farmers own

Ratan Tata: three moments of calm, people-first leadership, from the Indica to Jaguar Land Rover

04

Self-leadership

Pressure changes how managers decide and how they treat people. The capsule looks at the manager’s own reaction before anyone else’s.

BEHAVIOURS IN THIS THEME

EXAMPLE REAL-WORLD CASES

Milkha Singh, Rome 1960: owning the one moment that slipped

MS Dhoni: staying ready through years nobody was watching

Falguni Nayar: leaving a senior banking career at nearly 50 to build Nykaa

J.K. Rowling: twelve rejections before one yes

Airbnb’s cereal boxes: keeping an idea alive when nobody else believed in it

05

Delegation & development

Managers step in, fix the work and approve every small step. The capsule slows down the moment a manager decides to take over.

06

Feedback & recognition

Feedback gets postponed and appreciation starts to sound routine. The capsule takes one of these conversations and lets managers rehearse the choice.

Don't see the behaviour you need?

Tell Excellential the behaviour your managers need to change. A workplace scenario is built around your group in two working weeks, with names and details changed. It works for any behaviour above, too.

How a session runs

Every session follows the same four stages. Managers commit to a choice before they see the outcome, so they think it through instead of only watching. The facilitator narrates the case live, so the discussion can stop wherever managers need it to.

  1. Step 1

    Experience

Managers watch the case and reach the decision point. The room votes or debates before the consequence plays out.

  2. Step 2

    Reflect

The facilitator connects the case to your managers' context: where this behaviour shows up, and what it costs.

  3. Step 3

    Discuss

Managers compare their choices, challenge each other's reasoning and hear how peers in other roles would act.

  4. Step 4

    Apply

Each manager names one thing to do differently at work. Participants answer three short reflection questions at the end of the session and again after 30 days.

When to choose a capsule and when to choose a full programme

Who it's for

Tested with a large Indian conglomerate, grown by word of mouth

A large Indian conglomerate ran a series of 20 of these visual case sessions through its corporate learning academy. They were open to employees across its businesses, in India and abroad. The first session had 60 people. Word spread, and attendance kept climbing until 1,500 people joined a single session. They came to step inside real events and see them through the eyes of the people who were there.

In the live chat after each case, participants wrote what they would do differently:

We will own it till we close it.

Participant, Indian conglomerate

Instead of waiting for a mail from a colleague, I will personally call and meet them to get the information and complete the task within the timeline.

A leader often has to act before having all the answers.

Frequently asked questions

Can you change the behaviour of managers and leaders?

Yes, A session can help managers see a habit and choose a different action to try. Lasting change also needs support and chances to apply it at work. Their own manager’s support afterwards matters too. Change is harder when one session tries to cover many skills. Narravate Leadership works on one behaviour per session and ends with one action each manager tries at work.

Common reasons include little chance to practise, no follow-up from their own manager and too much content in one go. Deadlines also pull people back to old habits. A better approach is to work on one behaviour and rehearse the real decision. A check-in after 30 days gives the new habit a better chance to stick.

It is training that aims to change what managers do at work, not only what they know. Instead of explaining a model, it puts managers in a realistic situation. They choose a response and discuss the consequences. Narravate Leadership does this through a visual case and live facilitated discussion.

Experiential leadership training builds behaviour through doing rather than listening. Participants face a situation, make a choice, see what follows and reflect on it with a facilitator and peers. In Narravate Leadership, that situation is a short visual case. It pauses at the decision point before the outcome is revealed.

Videos and written cases can also support discussion. Narravate combines visual scenes, live narration and a decision before the outcome. A Narravate visual case is narrated live by a facilitator, who stops at the decision point. The room decides together before seeing the outcome, and the session ends with each manager naming one action to try.

No. Narravate Leadership uses a case to examine a manager’s decision. It does not teach leaders how to tell stories or make speeches. If storytelling as a communication skill is the goal, start with Excellential’s Business Communication Training. The team can suggest the right programme.

Each session gives one behaviour focused attention and ends with an action to try. Related behaviours can be covered as a series, one per session. A series spread over weeks also gives managers time to practise each behaviour before the next one begins.

Real-world cases use documented events, such as the Thailand Cave Rescue. Each case is fully prepared before your session. Workplace scenarios are built around your managers’ own context in two working weeks. Before production, every name or detail that could identify a person in your organisation is removed or changed.

Each real-world case is built from documented sources. The script marks what is documented fact, what is reasonable inference and what is dramatic reconstruction. Excellential shares the source list before the session, so your team can check how each scene was built.

Yes. A capsule can open a programme by raising one behaviour. It can also reset the middle of a programme or reinforce learning after the workshop days. Or it can sit alongside Excellential’s First-Time Manager Training, adding one focused decision to practise between modules.

Each manager leaves with one action to try at work. Participants answer three reflection questions at the end of the session and again after 30 days. They note what stayed with them, what they have changed or are changing, and what they would still want reinforced. Lasting change also needs support from each manager’s own reporting manager.

People remember pictures better than words, an effect psychologists call the picture superiority effect. A visual case shows the setting, the pressure and the people involved. That helps managers remember the moment they had to decide. The lesson then returns when a similar moment arrives at work.

Excellential creates the visuals with various licensed tools under human direction. A person checks every scene against the documented facts or the agreed brief before use. The narration is never AI. An Excellential facilitator narrates every session live and can pause the case wherever the group needs more discussion.

Excellential offers three formats: a Single Capsule, a Capsule Series and a Custom Visual Case. The fee also depends on group size, delivery mode and any follow-up. Excellential agrees these in a free consultation, then shares a written proposal, so scope and price are clear before booking.

Which one behaviour should your managers change first?

Disclaimer: Narravate cases are built for learning and discussion. Each real-world case draws on public, documented sources, which Excellential researches in depth before designing the visuals. The visuals are created with various tools and show reconstructions, not footage of the events. Company and brand names belong to their owners. Their use does not imply any endorsement of, or connection with, Excellential.
